I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

Why Are You Here?
…I have no idea, I am not you. Nonetheless, The Instinctive Renaissance (The I.R.) is simultaneously my internal ethos and the motif of this site: a collection of thoughts, musings, ideas, memories, polemics, and anything that comes to my mind. I am very instinctual and I tend to be sort of a renaissance man, dabbling in a wide range of thoughts and interests. Attaining my terminal degree provided me the time to fully explore any interest, starting here.
It All Started When…
I was playing a game of pickup basketball in May 2009. I was running back on transition defense when the ball-handler came straight towards me. He made a move to my right. I planted my left left to cut him off and POP! My Achilles tendon completely ruptured (two weeks before my undergrad graduation ceremony, no less). After surgery, I was in a cast for six weeks.
Back in 2009, I had my own apartment (check this) with no internet. During recovery, being only 24 years old, I was incredibly bored. So, I purchased internet and began goofing off on Facebook.
One day, being a new college graduate and confined to a couch, I decided to randomly write a [terrible] series of Facebook “Notes” titled, Why Should I Ever Get Married. I wrote it more in the tone of journal, but I soon received feedback from friends. From 2009 to about 2013, I semi-consistently wrote about a wide range of seemingly random topics. After my new-found freedom, we’re here.

The Pen
The Pen is my collection of thoughts and experience through one of my favorite hobbies, writing.
The Cook
I am no chef, nor am I a foodie. However, I like cooking for some reason. Probably because I enjoy the process or journey of things. Some dishes will hit, others will fall, but it’s fun regardless!
The Educator
Well, I am an educator because I enjoy the process of learning and development. Stay tuned for my adventures and misadventures in the world of higher education. I will provide information about readings I completed, in progress, or for the future.
