That’s what happens. If you know how to make a sweet potato pie and a cheesecake, then you know how to make it. You are just making the ingredients for both, but adjusting the measurements to essentially make half a sweet potato pie and half a cheesecake. I elected for a cinnamon graham crust and a ratio that slightly favored sweet potato pie. But one could adjust the ratio to whatever their preference is, whether true hybrid, more sweet potato, or more cheesecake. My maternal grandmother (d. 2005) used to make a huge pot of gumbo every New Year’s Day. Many family members used to stop by Grandma’s house, fellowship, and have a bowl (or three) of gumbo. It was so good. Since Grandma passed, I haven’t had a single bowl. So, I decided to make my own. I told myself right away that my gumbo will never come close to grandma’s level, but I think she would be proud. It came out great. There is always room for improvement, but I couldn’t be any happier with my first attempt.
